"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years."
Dr. Kono is a Clinical Neuropsychologist who has been practicing neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy in the San Francisco Bay Area for almost 10 years. In addition to working for several, local medical facilities, Dr. Kono has been employed by non-profit organizations, providing compassionate mental health support for the disenfranchised. For the greater part of the past decade, Dr. Kono has committed herself to working with those who are HIV-positive, becoming one of only a handful of neuropsychologists specializing in HIV in California and possibly nationwide. With subspecialties in both Health- and Geropsychology, Dr. Kono has used neuropsychological testing to help those with medical diagnoses understand potential cognitive changes related to their conditions, and worked with patients in therapy to cope with these changes, improve their emotional well-being, and identify ways to sustain or improve their quality of life.
In her own words:
"I see myself as an advocate for those experiencing challenges related to their emotional and physical well-being. I believe both therapy and neuropsychological testing are collaborative processes, ones in which we work together in addressing your needs. I approach every relationship with humanity and compassion, seeing people beyond their symptoms or diagnoses. For me, this work reflects a personal mission to give back to the community, and help improve the lives of those around me.
I look forward to being a part of your journey."
